Book Review: The Man who Loved Libraries

carnegie

In 2019 as libraries suffer cuts and closures around the UK, author Andrew Larsen wanted to share the story of a man who founded many libraries across the world. This beautifully illustrated book published by Pikku Publishing tells the story of a man who understood the value of libraries in his life and wanted to make sure that others had the same opportunity.

On making his fortune in America he spent it by giving libraries to many communities. His first in his own home town in Scotland and many others all across the world.  This year sees the  100th anniversary of Andrew Carnegie’s legacy and this book celebrates his achievements.

A real reminder of the value and power of libraries in today’s society and a wonderful book to be read by young and old alike.
