Book Review

Tin by Pádraig Kenny

This is a futuristic story about a group of robots who work for an engineer of mechanical children. There are rules about making mechanicals and due to something that happened in the past no adult mechanicals are allowed by law. Christopher, an orphan is happy working alongside is friends and being the only ‘real’ boy feels special until he finds out the awful truth. An adventure follows with some action scenes difficult to read because the author has made these robots actually feel human. Friendship, loyalty and everything else that makes us human is pored into these robot characters.

I am not a fan of science fiction but this is a very readable story that allows a slightly more hard hitting story due to the characters not being real. Will appeal to those who like a good adventure story.
