Winner of the Irish Children’s Book of the Year, TiN by Chris Judge is a charming and innovative story of a young robot and his little sister. With their clever names and bold colours, this metallic robot family are bursting with character right from the offset. Solely through the use of two small circles and a rectangle, Judge is able to express a range of emotions on the face of each robot. In fact the illustrations are so vibrant and expressive, they could stand alone without text and still tell a coherent story. The words themselves however are also brilliant, and help to highlight the sibling bond that runs throughout the story. This along with the use of animated colours throughout, Judge has cleverly painted a fun and futuristic world for both children and grown-ups to enjoy.
